MLM Recruiting Secrets

Are You Running An MLM Museum?

by Robert Blackman

A good friend of mine works in an Art Gallery.
Great place.
Great stuff.

Some items run upwards of $50,000 for a single piece of art.

As you can imagine, you have to have some "bucks" to drop 50 grand on a painting.

He does very well--although his business is seasonal, he still makes some good money.

But, I observed something very frustrating about him and his gallery the other day.

He was spending WAY TO MUCH time talking with the wrong prospects.

He wasn't sizing up his prospects and determining two very important things:

1) Their Needs or Wants
2) Their budget

You see, it's impossible to sell a $50,000 painting to someone who makes $50,000 a year--don't you agree?

But, that is what my friend is doing all day long.

He's got prospect after prospect who wonders in the gallery with a camera around their neck and a camcorder stuck under their arm saying:

"WOW, what a beautiful place, if I ever win the lottery I'll be back!"

Then, that prospect spends 15-30 minutes of my friends time getting "educated" on ART in general.

They shake hands, exchange business cards or he hands them a photo of the unattainable art and a little background on the artist.

As the prospects butt hits the door that's the last my friend will ever see or hear from that person again.

And, my friend works on commission--just like you and I do in the MLM industry.

It got me to thinking.

I saw my friend that day not as a salesperson, rather as a Museum employee.

Here he was passing out photos & brochures and had 10-15 people surrounding him at a time as he gave intricate detail and "romanced" the audience to "oooh's and aaaaw's".

After his eloquent presentation the crowd will slowly diminish and there he sat--alone--with an empty room full of art well worth over $2,000,000--with no prospects and no sales.

And worse yet--no commisson that day.

Silly isn't it?

I thought so to.

The solution for my dear old friend?

Get him more prequfalifed prospects to talk to.

People who spend 50 grand like you and I do 50 cents on a Soda Pop out of the vending machine.

Yes, those folks are out there.

They may not be in his gallery at the moment--but they are out there--it is his job to find them in his "down" time if he ever wants to make any kind of significant money as an art salesperson.

You and I are no different from my art friend.

We do the same thing.

We pitch our "script" to unqualifed people all the time. We talk to people way to long when we know they have no interest in our opportunity.

We do that because we know that there isn't anyone else standing in line behind that unqualifed prospect we're talking to.

So, we try to twist our prospects arm or try to talk them into joining.

That's not the way to build a walk-away residual income folks.

I still get paid a nice check each month from a company that I haven't put a person into since 1995.

Why does the check still arrive even though I haven't actively sponsored anyone in over 5 years?

Because those that I did sponsor WANTED or NEEDED the product I sold at the time.

And, oh, yes, here's the other reason:

THEY COULD AFFORD IT!!!!!

Yes, my friend at the Gallery is learning the art of prospecting--but he's still in a silly situation.

He has to talk to everyone who walks through the door.

You and I don't.

You and I get to choose who we talk with.

But the even sillier thing is we BLAME everybody else for OUR failure of talking to the wrong people.

Just like pitching a $50,000 painting to someone who makes $10 an hour, you and I are pitching our MLM programs to people who:

1) Have no NEED or Desire to own their own business now.
2) Don't have the finances to even buy a starter kit.

Hitting your head against the MLM wall isn't the way to build a business.

I used to do it and it discouraged the heck out of me.

I don't know about you, but I HATE selling something to someone who isn't interested.

I hate it so much that I refuse to do it anymore.

I ask a few qualifying questions and then move on.

I ask questions like:

--"Have you ever been in MLM before?"
--"What attracted you to our opportunity?"
--"Are you more interested in our products or pay plan?"
--"Give me a ballpark number on your monthly budget"

If I'm talking to someone who CANNOT afford my MLM program or isn't willing to do what is necessary to build my MLM programs then I simply point them to my FREE MLM NEWSLETTER site and let my autoresponder take over.

I'm not rude to them.
I don't hang up the phone on them.
I know the timing isn't right for them now.
But, it might be in 3 months or 3 years.

What do I care when they're ready to come in?

I have hundreds of leads that I HAVE to followup on after them.

I cannot afford to spend time selling something to someone who isn't a qualifed buyer right now.

It is MY job and YOURS to find qualified prospects for our MLM programs.

That's the KEY to this business.

It isn't my product
It isn't my pay plan
It's the fact that I find people who "FIT" or "Match"
my system of doing MLM.

They are qualifed.

All I do is hand them the pen and application.

I get paid money for passing out pens and paper.

Gee, how hard is that?

I asked my art friend that if he could clone himself would it increase his sales.

He said, "SURE IT WOULD ROBERT!"

Have a great day and remember, if you want to make six figures in this business you have to get out of the "MLM Museum" mode of pitching your program to unqualified candidates.

Museum employees are on salary.
Museum employees don't make six figures.
Museum employees don't spend weekdays with their children
Museum employees don't fly their family and friends in for the weekend
Museum employees don't sleep in
Museum employees call their checking account every day to see if a check has bounced

MLM'ers are on commission
MLM'ers write their own paycheck
MLM'ers who make 6-figures prequalify prospects
MLM'ers only have 24 hours a day--just like the Museum employees
MLM'ers choose to live their life differently
MLM'ers know it's better to give than receive
MLM'ers know their is no perfect plan or product or upline
MLM'ers know that if they get 1-2 Leaders their worries are over

Stop being a "MLM Museum" employee.
Stop handing out brochures to unqualifed prospects
Start talking to only those who will JOIN NOW!

And, you need to start pitching your program to those that not only WANT or NEED your program but they also can AFFORD it!

That's what I do every day--talk to qualified prospects.

That's why I close over 50% of those I talk to into my MLM program--they've gone through my Free MLM Newsletter system and raised their hand and said,

"Robert, PICK ME!"

Now isn't' that the way you'd like to build your MLM business?

Sincerely,
Robert Blackman
